Shadow Stains

Shadow Stains - mp3

Well I never needed more to do than
cast our shadows on a castle made of sand and
watch it wash away, watch it wash away.

Staring at the setting sun
while the final embers fuze into one
let it slip away, let it slip away.

The world just moves a little slower
when your body eclipses the spotlight
and I can only see your silhouette cast in the radiance.
Frozen in my memory in a silent timeless burn where the shadow stays,
and even when they turn our the lights your shadow stays in shadow stains.
Oh, those shadow stains.

I took a mental photograph
of the moment you tilted your head back and laughed.
blocking out the sunlight with your form,
pinning me down as storms brought the downpour.

But if I knew how I'd feel today
I'd certainly lay there and soak in your grace
just a little bit longer to catpture the fragments
of what I'd recall when this night was over.

The world just moves a little slower
when your body eclipses the spotlight
and I can only see your silhouette cast in the radiance.
Frozen in my memory like a silent timeless burn leaving shadow stains,
and I can always close my eyes and see your shadow stains, shadow stains.
Oh, those shadow stains.

Though raining in my mind
I can find shelter from the feelings I hide
deep inside a silver lined clouded outline
of the void where you shined.

Trying to understand
why memories dissipate like sentimental sand
slipping through the grip of my clentched fist
that's grasping dust grains in my hand.

The world just moves a little slower
when your body eclipses the spotlight
and I can only see your silhouette cast in the radiance.
Frozen in my memory in a silent timeless burn where the shadow stays,
I'll never want to wash away those shadow stains.
Oh, those shadow stains.
Oh, those shadow stains.
